Agilent swears the first oscilloscope

After winning the top spot in the high-end oscilloscope market in 2011, Agilent plans to further expand its product portfolio and complete sales network to expand its market for oscilloscopes, surpassing Tektronix 5 years later. Tektronix) became the number one market leader.

According to statistics of Frost & Sullivan, the current market share of Tektronix in the oscilloscope market is nearly 50%, while that of Agilent is 35%. The top three industry players together account for about 90% of the total oscilloscope market share. Divided by product level, the mainstream low-end oscilloscope market is still headed by Tektronix, while the high-end models are Agilent's world.

Alexander pointed out that Agilent has a brilliant performance in the high-end oscilloscope market, mainly from the 9900X and 90000Q series of products in the fiber, high-speed serial interface and semiconductor test market contribution. For example, as the amount of data transmission increases, more high-bandwidth applications emerge, such as PCI Express (PCIe) 4.0 transmission rate up to 16Gbit/s, which requires an oscilloscope with a bandwidth as high as 40G to 60GHz to effectively test signals. Only Agilent offers an oscilloscope with a 63GHz bandwidth on the market.

In addition, Agilent's new indium phosphide (InP) process technology also enables the 90000X and 90000Q series to achieve high-frequency bandwidth while providing excellent jitter and noise immunity to solve the problem of high-frequency signal distortion.

Although Tektronix still dominates the market for the largest low-end oscilloscopes in the mainstream, Agilent's economical, all-in-one 2000X and 3000X series launched more than a year ago has entered the low-to-medium oscilloscope market rapidly. The low-order oscilloscope application and education market has taken over. At present, the 2000X and 3000X series have become the largest Agilent shipments.

Alexander emphasized that the annual compound growth rate of Agilent's oscilloscopes has reached 13.5% over the past 10 years. In various oscilloscope test applications, in addition to the constant evolution of Agilent's hardware devices, and the development of 50 oscilloscope test software, users can use it more easily and simplify the test work, which is also a very important competitive advantage for the company.
