According to Li Qing, the forthcoming "Planning" includes seven major sub-sectors, namely bio-pharmaceuticals, bio-medical engineering, bio-agriculture, bio-manufacturing, bio-environmental protection, bio-energy, and biological services.
"In the next 4 trillion yuan in the total scale of the biological industry, biomedicine will reach 3.18 trillion yuan." Xiong Xiong, vice president of the China Pharmaceutical Industry Research Institute, told reporters that in accordance with the "planning", by the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" , China will have five pharmaceutical companies into the ranks of the top 100 pharmaceutical companies in the world.
Li Qing revealed that several departments have deployed relevant support plans. “If the NDRC has a strategic emerging industry specialization, the Ministry of Science and Technology has formulated a national main science and technology plan, the Ministry of Finance has deployed special funds, the Ministry of Health has major science and technology projects, industry special projects, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has formulated technical transformation projects.â€
