It is reported that since 2003, the National Development and Reform Commission price monitoring center has established a drug price index. At present, the Price Monitoring Center has set up more than 380 drug wholesalers, retailers, pharmacies and hospitals in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country to serve as fixed-point monitoring units for drug prices. The index is calculated every two months.
The drug price index focuses on the selection of products that are widely used and sold in large quantities, and currently include antibiotic-infective drugs, non-antibiotic anti-infective drugs, anti-parasitic drugs, antipyretic analgesics, and special management drugs in western medicine. There are 116 types of drugs in 13 categories, a total of 1057 dosage forms, and 72 types of drugs in 15 categories, including clarifiers, heat-removing agents, and herbal extracts in Chinese medicines, with a total of 370 dosage forms.
